In the past decade there has been a dramatic interest in cosmetic dentistry. We all realize that having a healthy, bright, beautiful smile enhances our appearance and allows us to smile with confidence. Thanks to the advances in modern cosmetic dentistry, we are able to improve our teeth and smiles with quick, painless and surprisingly affordable treatments.
Dental bonding uses a tooth-colored resin that can be applied to the teeth to correct a problem or as a cosmetic procedure to improve the appearance of your smile.
- The resin is applied as a soft putty and can be molded or shaped to the desired form.
- It is then hardened with the use of a special ultraviolet light.
- Once it is hardened, it can be further shaped, trimmed and polished to complement the rest of your teeth.
It can be used for a variety reasons such as for a chipped tooth, tooth colored fillings to repair cavities, to close spaces between teeth, to change the shape of teeth, to correct discoloration, or used as a cosmetic replacement to amalgam (silver) fillings.
Dental veneers can drastically improve the quality of your smile! Dr. Davis has extensive training in dental veneers and enjoys improving his patients appearance. A dental veneer is a thin tooth shaped ceramic covering that is attached to the front of a tooth. Veneers can be used to correct discoloration, correct chipped, misshapen or worn teeth, or fill in large spaces or gaps between teeth.
Strong and durable
Provide a natural, translucent surface that appears like your natural teeth
Do not stain easily
The veneer process takes two visits. During your first visit, your tooth or teeth will be prepared by lightly buffing and shaping the surface or the teeth in order to allow for the thickness of the veneer. An impression will be taken of the prepared teeth and Dr. Davis will help you in selecting the right shade match for your teeth. Your impression is then sent to a dental lab where your veneers will be custom made to fit your teeth.
On the second visit, your new veneers will be bonded to your teeth. There may be adjustments necessary. The finished product will make you smile!
Tooth whitening has become a very popular dental treatment and is a simple way to change the color of your teeth and improve the attractiveness of your smile.
Tooth whitening involves two visits. On the first visit we will take an impression (mold) of your teeth from which clear, plastic trays will be made to custom fit your teeth.
On the second visit, your custom trays will be adjusted for proper fit. These trays will be taken home along with a special dental whitening solution that is to be worn 30 minutes twice a day, or overnight for about 2-4 weeks until you reach the desired level of whitening.
The whitening solution can create tooth sensitivity which should subside after you stop the treatments. Please be aware, tooth whitening is not permanent. You may need to repeat treatments at the direction of Dr. Davis, especially if you smoke, drink coffee, tea or wine.
